I did notice the photos John took of him and Charlotte and saw how he put himself in the center of the images, but I had forgotten that Bob also took some shots. This is a nice essay.

"Juno"

I kept hearing how good this was, so I went to see it the other day. I liked it. Without going into detail, it's about a young girl who, in the course of a pregnancy, figures out what parts of herself she needs to jettison and what parts she should cherish. The acting is very good. Juno is played by...

Charles Dickens loved Christmas and wrote about it often. This is from the intro to the Christmas chapter in "Pickwick Papers." Numerous indeed are the hearts to which Christmas brings a brief season of happiness and enjoyment. How many families, whose members have been dispersed and scattered far a...

I can't stand company parties...there are too many opportunities to screw up and the alcohol can make people you thought you knew act weirdly. I have an old friend who ended up with two sexual harassment complaints after one of his company's parties. He eventually had to change jobs.

I can't say that I've ever been to MySpace or Facebook. Maybe if I was a little younger I'd have more interest in that sort of thing.

I never cared. To me it was just a curiosity. It would be a great movie with or without it.

Ingmar Bergman died a few days ago

He was 89. It took me a long time to enjoy Bergman's movies but once I got started I was sorry I waited so long. He made over 50 movies and also did TV shows and directed more than 200 plays. Some of his movies I've enjoyed: The Seventh Seal Wild Strawberries Through a Glass Darkly Smiles of a Summe...

I've seen it plenty of times, but I don't worry too much about seeing a movie too many times. God knows there are a ton of lousy flicks out there and I lose nothing by missing them.

Movies I've probably watched too many times: "Animal House," "Star Wars," and "The Sure Thing."

I wish you all the best. I wish you wouldn't speak in absolutes about leaving here. Go do what you have to do and come back whenever you feel like it.

Yeah, the reflection in the glasses is ghoulish. Another good one is when Bruno walks by the merry go round early in the movie. And if you get to see "The Lady Vanishes," be sure to pay close attention to the characters Charters and Caldicott. Those guys are absolutely hilarious as caricatures of Br...

"Strangers in a Train" is an awesome movie. Some of the images in it are incredible. "The Lady Vanishes" is my favorite Hitchcock movie.
