She is also in Brokeback Mountain. She plays the same type of self-centered, chatty bimbo that she did in LiT. She is the wife of a guy that Jake and Lureen go out with one night. She talks about being a "Tri-Delt" at SMU and that she had no idea she'd be married to farming equipment representative ...

I thought had read another post on this site where the poster said you could not order a Suntory whiskey at the Park Hyatt. I guess they had to start serving it due to the publicity! That other drink sounds like a LiT Cosmopolitan...lol. OH, I want to go and stay there so bad!! I must plan ahead sin...

It's your lucky day....some of the locations and even addresses are listed on this site! Go to Links and look under Articles, specifically the article on Post Modern Tokyo. I am so jealous! After seeing LiT, I have been longing to visit Tokyo. I purchased some travel books and maps so I could read r...

So many favorites of mine: 1. John and Charlotte meeting Kelly in the lobby. Watching Charlotte watch Kelly and John is priceless! 2. JOhn, Charlotte, Kelly and her BF in the bar and Kelly is droning on and on about her not being anorexic ("I'm not anorexic. I eat junk food all the time". "Oh, I tho...

I think he is happy because he needed the opportunity to say a proper goodbye to her and to thank her for their time together. I think she is happy because she needed to hear what he had to say. It obviously made her feel better and she needed that. I think she wanted to feel special and by Bob find...

I watched it last night, after midnight, after the kids and DG were fast asleep and the house was quiet. It was "like an old friend"...

I've seen it once in the theater and countless times on DVD. I've had the DVD since it came out in February, 2004.

I tend to agree with you, 52. Personally, I think Charlotte wanted someone to find her special and worthy of attention. Bob told her something to satisfy that since she seemed pleased by what he whispered in her ear. I have been reading your posts and I can sense that you did not get the closure you...

I was searching through IMDB last night and stumbled across "Fear and Trembling", a Belgium film about a young woman who gets a year contract to be a translator for Yumimoto, a large Japanese corporation. It stars Sylvie Testud. I think the french title is "Stupeur et trembelmente". She starts out w...

Criterion Collection response to my LiT request

HI everyone, In another thread, I can't remember which, we were talking about Criterion Collection's versions of DVD. They will take a DVD and add extras to it.....such as deleted scenes, production notes, etc. I checked out their website and they did not have LiT in their collection so I emailed th...

Re: The Life Aquatic DVD

Usually when films are released and there is a special Criterion Collection version, the CC version is labeled as such and is more expensive than the standard one. Does LiT have a Criterion Collection version? Mine has Bonus features such as deleted scenes, a conversation with Bill and Sophia, "Los...

I'd have to add Japanese Story with Toni Collett. It is an Australian film released in 2003 or 2004, I believe. She meets a Japanese man and they initially hate one another. But then their feelings change. They are both lost and have trouble communicating. There is a huge, surprising twist in the pl...

I think a sequel would be disappointing. However, there are so many scenes I'd like to see more of such as water aerobics, karoke, the hospital, etc.

I am hoping Sofia will release a Director's Cut DVD.

Some of my favorites: "I hear there's a helluva buck in that racket" - Bob says to Charlotte when she tells him her major in college was philosophy. "Which one is burgundy?" Bob asks when the FedEx package of carpet samples spills out on his hotel room foyer. Kelly: "Everyone thinks I'm anorexic but...

A sequel to Lost in Translation is the worst idea ever. It should never happen. If it does, I would fly to America, find whoever's responsible for it and protest until the cow's come home. I would lose all hope in film and never watch television again. The viewers don't want to know the outcome of ...

I have to go to a fundraiser for my children's school that night. I might be able to catch you all in the chatroom near the end of the movie.
