If you don't mind me asking, are you going via the english teaching route or being sent there by your company? I've been considering moving out there for years but the eikaiwa industry seems to be in freefall these days... No problem at all. I'm going via the JET program, so a little more stable th...

Oh man, I'm moving to Japan next week and these awesome photos really got the 'ol nostalgia juices flowing. Time to pop in the DVD with a glass of scotch. I'm definitely up for this! Of all things, being in Japan kept me from the last simulcast. Looking forward to it. :D

I can see what you're getting at. I can't comment too much on the relationship aspect of it, but I'll say this: I'm sure you've noticed, but the film makes a clear distinction between the people who are "awake" (have trouble sleeping, getting used to Japan, their position in life)--Bob and Charlotte...

I should have a reply ready later tomorrow, hopefully.

But as for Hibiki--it's absolutely great, but it's hard to get my hands on it, living in Los Angeles. I'll have to put in an online order once I save up the scratch. Or just the next time I go to Japan. :P

Bravo on the analysis thus far, it's inspired to me to rewatch the film tonight. I feel guilty doing it so much, almost as if it's a drug or some such dangerous ism, but it feels so right when the mood calls for it. I can't add a tremendous amount of insight to what you've already milked out of a se...

I realize I said the same thing about the last chapter and never actually got around to it, but I'm a big fan of the opening chapters and just got struck by a massive LiT mood. I'll do my best to contribute to this one before you move on--I really enjoy these discussions.

Perhaps one of my favorite chapters, and one that defines a very prominent theme of the movie...I will put it on this week with a glass of Suntory, and then discuss what has always been brooding in my mine up until now. I want to do the series of scenes justice, so I'll take a little time to muster ...

Ugh, this movie is sometimes just too intoxicating. And of course, all it takes is a visit to this board, the right mood, reading the threads and observations on the little things that make this movie such an experience to get me excited to watch it again. It's like meeting up with an old friend, it...

Thanks for the welcome! I'll definite hit up the chapter discussion, I just love talking about the movie, especially with people who appreciate LiT the way it should be.

Haha, yeah! I waited a while to post after I joined because I got so busy in Japan, but am definitely here to stay.

An interesting take on LIT

I'm sorry if this title is misleading, it's really just my personal experience with the film, and I thought I'd share it here. You guys seem just as passionate about it as I am, and I really appreciate a community like this, even if it's a little quiet here right now. Hopefully this contributes to d...
