I just watched Tokyo Sonata, I really enjoyed it. Also, it's not really anything like LiT but has anyone else watched Departures (おくりびと)? I really enjoyed it, I remember seeing it all over the place when I was in Japan last year but I only got around to watching it a few weeks ago.. definitely recom...

You can get it on Amazon.com as an import although it's pretty expensive, but it ships from Japan.

Wow! that's a long time!

I watch it every month pretty much, sometimes 2. But honestly, I never tire of it. :)

I agree with you so I don't think it sounds odd. I never tire of LiT. I wish I could find truth in Bob's quote because at the moment I don't, I still feel lost and unsure of "what I'm supposed to be". Oh and thanks for that link, I think that is a really nice trailer... it does portray the film more...

Since it was the beginning of a new year I made a resolution to watch LiT every year on the 1st Jan. Not that I don't watch it around 5/6 times throughout the year as well because I do. So I watched it on the first... this must be my 40th(?) time, because at one point I was almost watching it every ...

I've seen Lost Highway but I didn't really like it. Mulholland Drive I absolutely love though, I must have seen it 30 times.

I have to agree, Pheobe In Wonderland is a really great film with an excellent cast. I wouldn't necessarily think to recommend it to LiT fans as it's quite different really (although the loneliness theme is there) but I would recommend it nonetheless.

It's maybe stereotypical but I would have to agree with that Pitman. As a woman I would definitely feel more betrayed by the emotional relationship than the sexual. I can understand how sex could just happen. I think an emotional betrayal is far worse. As for Lydia, from her tone it appears that she...

Oh I agree, the mood in both films isn't the same.. I just thought that people who like LiT would enjoy CL. Mainly for the Japan scenery element and it's feeling. I'm yet to find a film that rivals LiT in any way!

This sounds interesting, I can't wait. I'm always interested to see if Sofia can capture the magic of LiT again, I enjoyed The Virgin Suicides and I've seen bits of Marie Antoinette but they don't really come close. I'm don't know if any film will ever evoke the same feelings in me as LiT does but I...

I do that also Ash, both times I've visited Japan in the last 2 years I've watched LiT just before going and just after coming back... it's something I have to do, I can't really explain it. Anyway I caught the karaoke scene when it was showing on TV last night but I couldn't make myself watch it fr...

I'm not sure if this one has been mentioned but I watched 'Cafe Lumiere' yesterday.. I think anyone who likes LiT and modern Japan would love it as I did. Lots and lots of scenery shots, very slow paced.. very beautiful. I'd definitely recommend it.
