That probably is right, they just didn't look like coins to me. I was thinking it was something more exotic, like hash, maybe.

Does LIT promote marital infidelity? I'm a relatively happily married man and after seeing LIT and having many of the same feelings as forum users, I keep finding myself hoping more and more to have more experiences similar to the movie. Although it's not cheating in the most literal sense of the w...

Hmm, what about a "pre"-quel ?

We could watch Bob and Lydia eating pasta together, John launching his photo career, Charlotte studying hard to pass her finals at Yale while maintaining a new marriage, and Kelly shooting her action movie!

Well, ok, maybe not...

1. What does Bob end up doing with the small box he is given by his translator/PR team upon his arrival? Damn, Kathy, I thought I was going to breeze through this quiz, and instead, get stumped on the first question ! I've got one for you: During the bar scenes on Bob and Charlotte's first night ou...

I read on a DVD review site that the high quality sound (which is no doubt related to what you're talking about) takes up so much space that there wouldn't've been enough space for a commentary. To preserve the integrity of the film, it was necessary to maintain this level of audio quality. If you ...

Insurance companies often require filmmakers to submit to medical examinations, to ensure that they are fit enough to complete a project. You don't want to insure a film for a high dollar amount, then have the director keel over from something they should have seen coming. Once production begins, I'...

Bring a laptop and a DVD of the film and watch it at 4 a.m. in your hotel room while looking out the window. Bring a CD of the soundtrack and listen to it on Bose noise-cancelling headphones while you walk around the city. I actually did this on my last business trip. How pathetic is that ? LiT is ...

Fantastic pic, PhillyGal. Thanks !
I hope the film community starts inventing awards soon, just to get those three together as often as possible.

Also, congratulations on your "graduation"... :D

Isn't "inaudible" from The White House Transcripts, editing by R.M. Nixon?
The only phrase that stuck in my mind from the Nixon transcripts was "expletive deleted". Actually, the Nixon tapes kinda follow the same rules as LiT: Where else could 18 1/2 minutes of silence say so much ? :)

Hi KK ! From the Forum Guidelines, I quote the following: 7) The post number counter has been removed to discourage "spam" posts to increase the post count. Ranks are silly titles created just for fun. Once your rank becomes Charlie Brown, if you want a custom rank then just request it via email. I ...

Scarlett's voice is just beautiful. I thought it was a shame they ditched it for "French Charlotte". I believe "French Bob" could give Kelly some stiff competition in a karaoke battle. I wonder how the "Lip My Stockings" scene translates on the French track. I doubt that they have the same "Lip/Rip"...

I think this was addressed somewhere else, but I can't find it now. I'm trying to find out what the song is that is playing in the background during the photo shoot scene with Naka. I just need to find that song and Rick James' "Love Gun", and I can finish my personal soundtrack album !

Fun With Audio

If you want to experience some of the best laughs in LiT, look no further than the French language option. Sometime during Charlie Brown's version of "God Save the Queen", switch to the French track, and watch the rest of the karaoke scene.

Is there anything left to say about Lost in Translation? Are there any more nuggets to pan from the movie? What more can we say about it? Great idea about begging Criterion for a release. We may have scraped what we can from the film itself, but this site can still serve a useful function as a sort...

Happy Birthday, LiT !!!

Today marks the 1st anniversary of the release of Lost In Translation. It was first shown at the Telluride Film Festival August 29, 2003 (Source: IMDb).

Hard to believe it's been around for a year already.
