Again, if Scarlett had been born in Denmark and spent more time there, and I had a chance to meet her, I might politely ask when pronunciation she would prefer. But when someone is obviously very Americanized (born in the States), I would think that it more polite to consider her a full American, ra...

There are other names with the same dilemma (like some French names), but when in North America, unless the speaker is from that particular foreign or from another country in that vicinity, pronouncing it the original way can come off as pretentious.

The Americanized way is JO-hansson, and the Danish pronounciation is YO-hansson. Considering that she was born in New York City and has lived in the States all of her life, I would say that we'd pronounce it the American way. I believe that in every media mention of her name including her guest appe...

I hope that I didn't come across as catty, but she's looked much better. I hate the hat also.

Gaman...

I came across the second longer writing on gaman while exploring on some links about Asian culture. I thought about this Japanese gaman, and it's something that I've always felt as an undercurrent of many countries that not as well off as the US, England and Canada. In though Japan is do beautiful a...

I watched Le Divorce for the first time yesterday. I thought that it captured the French culture quite accurately. Would recommend.

Chinese version of Sex and the City....

Sort of... I found these two cute videos of a Jewish American woman in Beijing who speaks Mandarin very well. If I were to visit there, I would want to have her show me the city! The first vid I dedicate to Pitman... especially listen to what the older people have to say about love and marriage. htt...

Welcome Bren! I think that most of us hope that Charlotte is smart enough to end a marriage that is so lacking, and since they don't have kids yet, it's okay to wish for a divorce. And while John will be sad, I think that he is surrounded by enough shallow beauties, that he won't be alone for long. ...

I think that there are all kinds of friendships. And it's true, when you are young, most friendships are based on having common definitions of fun or being in the same school or classes. Later on, one has good work buddies. As much as some young men are shallow, I think that at least among themselve...

From the 125 website, a back issue of that magazine #9 (?) seems to be 15.51 GBP shipped to the US, so about $31.00 US.

Hey thanks for your reply! I think it very rare for men to have a long term non-physical relationship like that, but Dietrich must have been a very interesting special woman. I hear so many guys complain when their dates don't put out quickly, they quit the friendship and move onto another chick.

Japanese Beach Girls vid

Found this on youtube today. Otachimisaki beach, Kyushu Japan. Footage of girls in beachwear with Japanese pop music in the background. Might not be safe for viewing at work.

I don't mean to hijack 52FM's thread, but I just wanted to point out that having a group event at your place is the best and most comfortable way for a potential Charlotte to get to see your place and check out your lifestyle.

What about inviting your Charlotte and her friends over for a movie fest? Maybe they could be in charge of the food. 8)
