Ithildriel - I meant to ask about your pets. What are the species, breeds, ages, genders (if that's not being too personal).
We have a female West Highland Terrier who just turned 9; we've had her since she was a couple months old.

Silvermoon - I can't add anything to what Ith said, other than I agree you should express your feelings. (I described Ithildriel as being wise, and it didn't take her long to demonstrate that.) I would say that the letter/message should be from the heart, but not so emotional that it may cause her t...

Ok - the March 14 was too subtle; lately March 14 has been declared "Pi Day" by matematicians; (since it is 3/14; get it?) Of course that doesn't work in the UK since they designate dates as day/month; not month/day. I doscoverd that my younger son (who is studying a math related field) has the movi...

I may see LiT again someday; in fact I'm sure I will. But not for a while yet. No real reason not to anymore, except now that "Bob/Char" is in my past, it sort of seems too soon to watch it. Probably in a few months. And yes Ith (may I call you Ith? 65 doesn't sound right.), you may call me 52. Heck...

March 14 is not really my favorite day; it is sort of a pun. Can anyone figure it out? It's not too hard. No, I haven't seen Pi. I should; forgot all about it. I do however absolutely love A Beautiful Mind. Just to show how dry I can be - we went on a cruise as a family a few years ago. My wife want...

Wow - reading my introduction from almost three months ago makes me sound pretty depressing. So here's a more proper one: I am married (duh) with three kids (23, 20, 18); live near a rather large city in the Midwest near a very large lake that rhymes with "itch again". I am in my 50's; my name is an...

According to the IMDb site, under memorable quotes, it's "you're not hopeless". But they could be wrong. I'm no expert, I only saw it once myself. But if it is different than I thought, it will change my viewpoint also. I have a humorous story (well, funny to me at least) about misinterpretting thin...

The start of another school year is just about here. Sorry Mike, sw25, and jml98. We're moving my younger son to his off-campus apartment next week (a rival Big Ten school to your Ohio State, Mike; GO BOILERS!) Then my daughter, who I've really gotten close to in the last few weeks, moves to her dor...

Shameless Self-congratulations
My wife and I just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary earlier this week. Wow - typing that sure makes me feel old!

Yes - I know it's strange that I haven't (and won't) see the whole movie. It's all in my (too many, too detailed) posts about how it relates to my personal situation from many years ago. It's here (and on IMDb) but I can see now it's probably not interesting - I only posted it to help myself through...

While I'm here - a few LiT thoughts
I’ve “lurked” on the forum a few times since my last post and while the crowd is still thin I still get interesting perspectives from the posts that are here. Here are a few thoughts I’ve had lately: Still surprised how many young people got LiT fever – like jml and sw25. Somewhere I read someone sa...

jml98 - I certainly understand. Despite my self-imposed hiatus, I still lurk nearly every day. A hard habit to break. If I remember correctly, you're entering your senior year. I do want to wish you well during that milestone year in your life. It's been great reading your posts and "talking" with y...

Bob and Lydia
Another really long post - I have a greater appreciation for LiT whenever I think of it (which has obviously been a lot). Much of what I appreciate are the things so many people criticize it for. Characters aren’t developed, dialogue is sparse, “nothing happens”. I understand why so many people disl...

Thanks for the comments sw25 and WhoFeelsLove. Happily, I woke up this morning feeling the same way I did yesterday - I was afraid the comfort was temporary but it is not. Things take time, as you said - but I really invested a lot of it in this and it is paying off. My wife's support is as you say ...

I suspect the opening scene is a "continuity error". If it's to set the movie as a flashback, it's way too subtle. The nods in the elevator are intiguing. I personally doubt they were an invitation back to the room for anything physical - the script doesn't include them but makes a point of the awkw...

She was 17 when LiT filmed; she's 20 now (maybe 19 when The Island Filmed". Girls/women change a lot in those two years (my 18 yr old daughter has an entirely different style wardrobe than she did a year or two ago), and I would expect Hollywood would accellerate that process for an attractive actre...
