Re: mmm

"If I understand you, you're asking if the start of the film is really the end. That it means that, after the actual end of the movie, Bob and Charlotte met again in Tokyo. This is a good idea. I don't believe it myself, but I still can like it. I do not believe that they ever got togeher, and I wro...

Re: Which LIT Character Embodies You??

"[quote:401b6d8a5b="phillygalinutah"]So which character(s) embodies you?[/quote:401b6d8a5b] I would like to think I'm Bob, but I'm probably more Charlotte. They are both very much the same character, except that Bob is older, more confident in himself, resigned to the adsurdities of his life, and le...

You can't please everyone

"Lost In Translation (15) So finally, here it is. The most overrated film of 2003 is available to buy on DVD. Not that Coppola’s film is bad, exactly. It has an adequately engaging script, is competently directed, and its two leads give well judged, believable performances. Yet the fact that this be...

Scarlett Johansson

"Perhaps this has been mentioned elsewhere, but an [i:2ae7bc83bd]Elle [/i:2ae7bc83bd]article (here) about Scarlett Johansson has this at the beginning: [color=darkblue:2ae7bc83bd]Johansson's mom, Melanie, says in a panicky voice so loud that my tape recorder picks it up, "Did you see what's in the S...

Re: How Many Times.…

"13 times in the theater (2 or 3 after I had the DVD). A few times on DVD...I don't think I'll start counting until I get a huge TV...which will be a long time.

Re: the whisper

"[quote:bfc4acd584="Jeanie"]I only discovered this film a short while ago, and it is my new favorite film. I think Bill Murray is fabulous in it, and I just love everything about it...[/quote:bfc4acd584]

That was excellent, Jeanie: I loved it. I wrote a bit about the movie myself."

Re: Wasn't that a WOMAN?

"Yeah I heard the moon is made of cheese, but it ain't. Sofia has said in an interview that it was a MAN, which it was; that one of the laughing women was the MAN's daughter; that it was an improvised scene and it was so good she put it in. I don't think the women are laughing because Bill Murray is...

What utter foolishness

In reality, one of these women was the old man's daughter. In the movie, the women are laughing at the hapless old man trying to talk to the incomprehending American, just as we spend the movie laughing at the hapless Americans trying to talk to the incomprehending Tokyo citizens.
