"Ghost World" has an extremely funny screenplay and also left me with an unsettled feeling after I'd seen it. I don't think it's much of a stretch to imagine Rebecca as a younger Charlotte.

It's a testimony to the power of LIT to generate such strong feelings in people that have recently seen it for the first time that they have to go talk about it somewhere, whether to praise it or slam it.

What's the explanation for there already being a billboard with Bob's picture on it when he is supposedly just arriving in Tokyo for the ad shoots?

Rick was doing a good deed for Ilsa's husband and also letting Ilsa off the hook. Rick didn't want to leave her with a husband with questions about her feelings for Rick. Her "God bless you" had double meaning for her, she was thanking Rick for the letters of transit and for not leaving her with any...

"Love Song" was fairly well-received at the Venice Film Festival as a non-competing film, the fact it will be shown in Los Angeles before the end of the year is a sign that the people behind it at least want it to be Oscar-eligible. Both Travolta and Johansson might be long shots for nominations.

I think the character of Charlotte is a possible look at what might have happened to Rebecca from "Ghost World". I can see Rebecca deciding to go to college and trying to write.

It's also easier to open up to strangers. If you're having a mid-life crisis or whatever the people that know you will either freak out or just tell you to stop whining and deal with it.

I've read that interview and to me it was like Scarlett was imposing her feelings about the situation onto the movie. If there was no way Charlotte was going to hook up with Bob, why did she tell him to stay in Tokyo with her when he confessed that he didn't want to leave? There is a big difference ...

I've watched this movie a gazillion times and didn't catch "The Nods" until about the 10th viewing. They changed my opinion of Bob for the worse. Now I think Charlotte always had more invested emotionally in their friendship. She is obviously questioning her choice of marriage partner but when Bob s...

I've said elsewhere that I think Charlotte would have run off with Bob if he'd asked. She is upset because, even though she's married, she is in love with Bob and upset that he "cheated" on her. The scene in the sushi place was when I realized that Scarlett is probably going to win multiple Oscars a...

Bob and Charlotte fell in love, they both knew it, but the timing was all wrong. The last scene says it all, they were both heartbroken and finally expressed how they really felt about each other. Charlotte readily locked lips when Bob kissed her. Somehow that final goodbye was satisfying enough for...

I am puzzled by that scene myself. The non-romantic explanation is the billboard photo was taken in the USA for Suntory's use before Bob came to Tokyo. The romantic explanation is Bob is coming back to hook up with Charlotte and the rest of the film is a flashback. I accept it as a valid interpretat...

Although Bob never says anything about where he lives, I'm assuming it's LA. Another interesting thing is that I can't recall ever hearing what Charlotte's last name is. Even if Bob wanted to get in touch with her, he wouldn't know whom to call, and Bob's number is probably unlisted. :-)
