thanks! tsukiji may well be a good idea....the scramble crossing i will definitely do of course. there are a few technical considerations with the neon lighting that make it difficult to shoot at night though. ill be going to rappongi to try some skyline shots, depending on how clean the glass windo...

a big tv has been on my list for some time now, but whenever i finally get enough money saved i go end up travelling instead. i think with the demise of hd dvd a bluray release will be inevitable at some point. i'd really like the chance to see the movie in a theatre at some point, as i missed it's ...

A guy was actually caught living in the office where I work last year. He had some bad debts with the wrong people, and as the place is relatively secure, he just figured that he'd move into the office. Nobody really cottoned on to him, and for months he lived in the building, sleeping in his office...

I heard about this first through the BBC website, which has a bit of a different slant, his wife accusing him of physical abuse: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7427280.stm Murray doesn't strike me as the type that would do this sort of thing, but then again I've never met him in person, so...

you may be right. not sure about any increase in value, but if there isn't a blu ray release this could possibly be the only chance you get to see the movie in HD. and they aren't making any more HD DVD discs, so once they're gone, they're gone. I think the items that have the most potential to go u...

Now that HD DVD is officially dead and bluray has won the format war, you would expect a few titles that were on HD DVD to be converted to bluray. A bluray version of lit would probably be a while away, but theres always hope that they just might do a commentary and a few more extras this time if th...

Continuity has never been this movie's strongest point, take the ikebana scene for example. The first neon lit scenes of Bob in the taxi are actually shot with the taxi driving in the wrong direction to the Park Hyatt. It'd therefore be very difficult to read anything into that. Let's face it though...

The Sounds Of Tokyo

Anyone who has been to Tokyo will have traveled on the subway at one point. One of the fairly unique things I remember are the short jingles that would play to let you know when a train is arriving/departing. They are quite an everyday sound that you wouldn't necessarily associate with Tokyo. As the...

Agreed! Does anybody else think that we should have standardised dates for the simul-views on here as well? Might be easier for people to make a note of etc. Could always put it to a poll or something...

I think for the purposes of simul-view, 23 september was previously quoted as the anniversary date. I think that also coupled with 4/20 at 0420 japan time would make a nice combination; two simul-views a year, spread almost evenly, one in spring which has some significance and the other on the actua...

not too sure about the date, but 04:20 tokyo time for the start would be very apt.....

Since these articles were written in 2006, the bubble has burst even further (if that's possible). Nova was by far the biggest of the Eikaiwa chain schools, but went under a few months back. Basically, their business model involved selling package deals for lessons, which could be redeemed using a p...

Actually, I only came up with the signature the other week, so you would be the first! I took the outline from the lit website, the text is actually the subtitles from the japanese dvd when Bob says 'you're not hopeless'. At least I hope it's what it says, and hopefully not something like 'not for c...

I had to ask on here for help in finding it when I was there. Pockets found this in the end... Their good-bye is in Plaza Dori, near the west entrance to Shinjuku Station. I would add to that by saying head to Shinjuku station, and then Yodobashi Camera (should be marked in any guidebook). It's one ...
