Well, it does sound reasonable to think he said that. Not sure how credible it is though, and personally I think they should just leave it and let the individual viewers make what they want of the whisper, after all, it is one of those particuarly interesting parts the film. :D

Ahh, but what's a story without a little plot conflict? I think it serves to test their relationship. Without this situation with Sausolito, there wouldn't have been the wonderful scene in the New York bar as they spent their last night together. And I think this also serves to add a little umph to...

Re: How's it pronounced?

Tombo wrote:...is it JO-hansson or YO-hansson?

I've heard different media types pronounce it BOTH ways, and I'm confused! :?

Does Bob-San know?

Tom xx
I would have thought it was the latter, but as Pockets said, the Americans pronounce it as the former, so, I guess we'll have to go with that.

Their good-bye is in Plaza Dori, near the west entrance to Shinjuku Station.
If I ever have a chance to visit Tokyo, that would certainly be worth visiting I think.

I finally got the DVD yesterday (HMV is not particularly fast at sending things sometimes...). As always, the ending almost brought a tear to mi' eye (and it's EXTREMELY rare that anything ever does that, but this film is so wonderful and emotional...). :) One thing though - am I alone when it comes...

Welcome you newcomers to LIT. I just saw it for the first time last fall and agree that it's an incredible movie that packs a powerful emotional punch. I like it when art influences life and makes you think (and re-think) your worldview. Some of my favourite spots represented here too which is nice...

Hey guys! My name's Tom,and I've been lurking on this site since the tail end of last year...and I've only just found this thread! It's really great to find a site like this...I truly had no idea that other people out there in cyberspace were as deeply touched as I was by LIT. I'm looking forward t...

Bren I know what you mean. But sometimes you just can't help but notice these inconsistencies, especially after multiple viewings. Like when Bob puts Charlotte to bed after karaoke, and her midrift is showing, shot to Bob, then back to Charlotte, and the shirt is pulled down now. They are minor, bu...

Well, you must certainly be paying attention for you to spot these mistakes. Personally, I don't like looking for them because it just messes things when it comes to believing the story, and for the duration of the film, forgetting its not real.

Thanks for telling us about that! I intend to get the album soon(ish) so I'll listen to it then. I'm sure most of you agree that it's great to listen to (Bill Murray on karaoke), not because of his singing, but the meaning of it and way Charlotte looks at Bob whilst he's singing it. :)

LiT is looking to be my overall favourite though! :D

Now that I think about it, does Bob ever call Charlotte by her name or vice versa? I'm thinking nay. The only times I can remember them using their names was when leaving messages on their phones (i.e when Charlotte invited Bob to go out with her and her friends the second time, and when Bob rang C...

I am not sure if it is an alternative to "Just like Honey" though this song reminded me of LIT almost immediatly when I had first bought the album. It is actually off of Pure Moods III. It is a little piece called "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" by Ryuichi Sakamoto. It obviously has a japanese them...

Jml, I'm really pleased to hear that you're heading out there this summer. Do you have your flights yet? I'd be happy to lend any advice I can. Yes I do. I've got a question about another "subtle observation" issue. In the short scene in which Bob is shaving (when he receives a phone call saying he's got a fax), he shaves with an unusually small razor. This, I think, is a reference to the film North by Northwest--Cary Grant's character in that film ...
