That first ad was the one I was talking about (it accused him of threatening his sister, not his mother). That's just insane. It makes it impossible to have faith in any of these candidates.

Drowning in negative campaign ads

For those of you who don't live in the states, you need to know that we have our midterm elections coming up in early November. Despite the loud public outcry against negative campaign ads, we are being smothered by them. Some of them are not only negative, but are painfully dumb and excruciating to...

If you guys enjoy talky movies like these two, check out Eric Rohmer's films. They are in French, but are immensely entertaining. I give you fair warning: there is little or no action in them, but if you like to watch normal people interact, you will enjoy his stuff.

All I can say is please don't think people down here are like her. She is a great cook, but her personality makes me want to jump off a building.

I liked both movies, but they didn't move me the way "LiT" did. The big problem is I'm not an Ethan Hawke fan. Plus, in the first movie, Delpy's accent was kind of weird. I did like the end of "Before Sunset" when Delpy was singing and dancing to the Nina Simone tune while I was wondering if Hawke w...

Yeah, we play Florida. It could get ugly. We just barely beat Mississippi State on Saturday.

Yeah, Lemon, D'Onofrio and Katherine Erbe are outstanding. Even if the episode is not that good, those two make a great team.

Gosh, we got beat again, this time by Vanderbilt. I guess the state of Tennessee has it in for us this season.

Elisabeth Roehm

I was never a big fan of the "Law & Order" series until I started catching some old episodes that air on Monday and Tuesday nights on TNT. I was hardly aware of Elisabeth Roehm's existence until then. Her character in the show, Serena Sutherland, is highly interesting. I don't recall seeing any epis...

You haven't written anything here that you should be embarrassed about. There's nothing wrong with you if your feelings or opinions change. It happens to all of us.

Being a sports fan can be painful

I attended the University of Georgia. I'm not the biggest football fan, but I do follow the games and carefully watch the scores. Going into this season, I knew we didn't have a real good team...not a bad team, but a team with some obvious weaknesses. Our defense was adequate, but we lacked a proven...

In today's Atlanat paper, one of the Falcons offensive linemen who used to play for the Titans said that he had been attacked by Haynesworth several times in practice. He said that once he knocked down Haynesworth in a blocking drill and Haynesworth jumped up and kicked him in the chest.

What you say about the Bears offense is true...the names that come to mind are Payton and then Sayers. Or maybe I'm just old school.

I'm assuming the Cubs will hire Girardi.

If the Bears can keep Grossman healthy, they could do well this year. As Georgia fan, I got to see a lot of Grossman while he was at Florida and he is a tenacious competitor. Chicago always has a great defense, but the last few years they couldn't always put points on the board.

Two old college friends of mine, a couple I have known for over thirty years, are getting a divorce. The guy has refused to get into counseling. His wife is starting, alone, in a week or two. He thinks it's no big deal, but I'm afraid what's going to happen is that somewhere down the road he's going...

For whatever reason, I tend to skip the scenes when Bob is talking to Lydia. I confess that Lydia irritates the heck out of me. I also skip the scenes between the end of Charlotte's Kyoto visit and before Bob shacks up with the singer. To me, those scenes are the weakest part of the movie.
