I recommend ‘Out of Sight’. It is a bit more of a thriller than many of the other films listed here but don’t let that put you off it; the central premise is a bank robber falling in love with a police officer (yes I know how cheesy that sounds), though similarly to LIT it is ultimately about two people connecting with one another despite their differences and seeking out happiness.

It does lack some of the subtlety that LIT has but it is really well produced, has a great soundtrack and a strong cast (remove all preconceptions - Jennifer Lopez is very good in this). It even has a fantastic scene set in the rooftop bar of a swanky hotel. Give it a go, you may be surprised.

Just listening to the Master (2012) soundtrack and it occurred to me that the film makes me feel like the 2nd or 3rd time i watched lost in translation. It's really beautiful, and the end is equally memorable.

Anything Paul Thomas Anderson thinking about it.

Here's a couple more I put in the same pool as LIT:

Chunking Express (already in the thread)
Fallen Angels (another WKW)
Paris, Texas
Badlands
Punch-drunk love
Somewhere <- another Coppola, my second favourite of her's :D
Up In The Air
Naked <- Warning! This is probably the most depressing film I've seen

Hope that helps!

Anybody had a chance to watch "Her"? I thought it was beautiful film and reminded me of Lost in Translation in many aspects. Great soundtrack as well I thought!
