Criterion Collection response to my LiT request

#1 Post by KKDallas » Mon May 23, 2005 1:12 pm

HI everyone,

In another thread, I can't remember which, we were talking about Criterion Collection's versions of DVD. They will take a DVD and add extras to it.....such as deleted scenes, production notes, etc.

I checked out their website and they did not have LiT in their collection so I emailed them and got a response. Here it is:

I love your DVD's and would like to suggest Lost in Translation for Criterion's "magic touch". It is my personal favorite movie. Sophia Coppola's second attempt at directing garnered her an Academy award nomination for best film, best director and and actual award for best screenplay.

There are many LiT fans out there who share my enthusiasm for the film. Even 18 months after its release, we are still talking about it over at http://www.weareawake.org/forum/index.php

As of May 20 there are 2454 different posts (articles) on the website and 126 registered users.

I look forward to a CC copy of this DVD and hope you will consider it.

Dear Kathy,

We have no plans for LOST IN TRANSLATION as we do not hold the DVD rights to this film.

Best,
JM

I guess you get DVD rights to a film by opening the window and waiting for them to fly into your lap?

I had sent them a request to but I got a stock answer.

johnmonkey, I think they get DVD rights by waiting for them to fly out of their
butt like monkeys! :D
