Owl (found a home)...

#1 Post by synasp » Mon Dec 05, 2005 5:46 am

Hello, a friend pointed me to this site as I posted a thread regarding the owl I picked up last summer while in Tokyo.

Image

After visiting half a dozen toy stores, and having my concierge call up a dozen more, I finally found this one owl. I know the one in the movie had a white back, but having looked for all that time with no success, I wasn't going to leave Tokyo empty handed.

A summer later, I have to part with it as I have bills to pay. This owl retails for $95USD, and is what I paid for it. In terms of my flight over and man-hours spent tracking down this owl, it's much more, but I was wondering if someone would give his guy a good home.

Here's the thread I posted on the other board (I'm a prop builder). I'm synasp there as well.

If this is in the wrong forum, I'm very sorry and request it be moved.

p.s. I can't sleep, so I might as well add that the Suntory Whiskey was even harder to locate than the owl. It retailed for $140USD and I'm never giving it up, regardless of medical bills.

these smilies/emoticons are scary...

Thanks for the interest, but I think there are enough interested people now that the owl has found a home.

Some of you asked about the Suntory. I have the contact info for the store I went to, and can call them up, but keep in mind it is already an expensive whiskey. Suntory wouldn't pay Bob a million to shoot a commercial for cheap whiskey!

As for other props, they're all "found" items, but hopefully I can point you in the right direction. Thanks again!

sorry I don't have any more guys... if I happen to stumble on more in the future, I'll be sure to let all of you know. But I doubt that'll happen since I've been looking since the movie, and had to fly around the world for this one above.

At the moment I'm trying to get some screenshots of Bill Murray with the owl but I can't do it because the "print screen" function can't copy the DVD image for some reason.

I'll try to get some shots this weekend, Wiggle, if I remember and if I'm home. I never even noticed the owl until I came to this site and saw these particular posts.

Did you want the gift shop one? I don't know where to find that on the DVD...

I made these big so you can resize to whatever you want. I still plan on getting you the story behind your owl!

As many times as I have watched this movie, I never noticed the owl sitting in the chair in the last shot.
