Why is Charlott's face blurry?

Ok, riddle me this Batman...

The last night in the bar and Bob says he doesn't want to leave. Then the camera is on Charlotte as she says "Then don't. Stay here with me..." and the focus is blurry.

Why is the focus blurry? What cinematic, or dramatic or symbolic device is Sofia using here?

Maybe there's another shot in the movie where they use the same effect, maybe you can connect those two scenes together and figure something out.

I don't know, they probbly just wanted to make the scene look nostalgic.

Maybe it was blurry because they were pressed for time and the light was dim and they werent using external lighting so the camera just got out of focus for a few seconds or something and they just decided to leave it that way.

I think it was just to add a diffused feeling relating to the atmosphere in the bar.

If memory serves, its even described in the script that the music was playing and the atmosphere was "sparkling" as they looked at each other. I suppose this was the interpretation when it was put on film :)

I think it's a mistake that was left in because Sofia made sense of it post facto.

When Charlotte says "stay here with me" with her face blurry and out of focus, it's as if she's not really there somehow, like a ghost. That undercuts the likelihood of the offer coming to pass. The blurriness makes the possibility of their staying together that much more unreal.
