I'm thinking we try and do it on the weekend of Oct 6th.
Any luck on a chat solution, Bob?
Regarding the chat solution, anyone here know how to use Ventrilo? I use it for chatting with a few friends when we play online games.
just a thought

I'm somewhat familiar with Ventrilo but I can't see too many of us bothering with the d/l and install. I have no problem doing it, but something web-based might be easier.
I'd rather be a gear in a big, deterministic, physical machine than just some random swerving.

Yeah! I'm so up for this! Even though it'll be something like 1 am where I am.
I may even get some friends round to see if I can convert 'em...

Sorry for not posting back sooner, between work and baby I haven't been on in awhile. I just need to figure out what I did and reenable to chat link to get it to work. The chat code is still there, I just need to turn it back on so to speak. When I first looked at turning it back on earlier in the year I couldn't figure out what I had done to turn it off so I have to go back again and look at it. Isn't Sept 23 th anniversary date? That would be a good weekend to do it. Here's a calendar where you can schedule something like this for different timezones:

You know, I checked imdb.com and they had Oct 3 as the release date and just assumed it was correct. A little more research and I get all sorts of other dates. The only thing any of them can seem to agree upon is that its first limited showings were on Sept 12, 2003 in LA/NY.
But we don't have to be exact, just wanted to do it sometime around here. I was thinking around noon pacific time which would make it 3 eastern and about 8 or 9 pm in Europe.
I'll make another post with a suggested date in a second here.
