Soundtrack contributors' other work

Of the artists represented on the LiT soundtrack, I only knew the work of Kevin Shields/My Bloody Valentine and Air prior to getting interested in the film. A week or two ago, I bought the most recent album by Phoenix ("It's Never Been Like That") based on liking "Too Young" in the night out sequence.

I really like the Death in Vegas song that plays during Bob's hazy neon encounter early in the film (such a fine pairing of image and sound) as well as the Squarepusher song during Charlotte's quiet gaze out the window. Does anyone own any of the albums by these (or other of the film's) musical artists? Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks!

I know that the Jesus and Mary Chain have several CDs. They recently played at the Coachella Festival and Scarlett sang with them on "Just Like Honey." It didn't sound very good, but it was interesting to watch. There are some clips of it at YouTube.

Squarepusher has very other few ambient pieces in his discography, but I could suggest Iambic 9 Poetry off his album Ultravisitor. It's a really beautiful tune.

However, if you do appreciate a wider range of electronic music, his work is amazing as a whole. I find his latest CD, Hello Everything, to be not only his best but also his most approachable. Tracks like Plotinus, Welcome to Europe, and The Modern Bass Guitar are fantastic!

As for Death in Vegas, the only album I have by them is their best hits entitled Milk It. Minus the tracks Hands Around my Throat and Scorpio Rising (and Girls, naturally!), it's pretty forgettable.

Now, if you are looking for some artists that fit very well into the mood of the soundtrack, I highly highly suggest you check out:

Asobi Seksu- especially Red Sea and Thursday off their album Citrus
Fennesz- The Endless Summer album is brilliant
Sigur Ros
Boy in Static

Thanks so much for these replies. I really appreciate the sharing. Of what's been mentioned, I already know and love Sigur Ros; I'll have to check out some of the other artists you mentioned.

Enjoy the show! I'm jealous! They haven't been back here since last year.

Warning - it's loud! I especially love Red Sea. They closed their show with that massive, wall-of-sound number.

I just been listening to some Asobi Seksu, thanks for the recommendation. I also come across a band called Blonde Redhead is now, listened to a few of their tracks and they sound really good!
