When should we watch LiT as an anniversary viewing?

I tend to make a point of watching my favourite movies at least once a year on their 'anniversary'. For example, I watch Groundhog Day religiously on February 2nd; I watch The Wicker Man on May 1st; I watch Halloween on the week of Halloween; I watch A Christmas Story at Christmas.

But I'm having trouble tying down LiT to a particular season or date. I understand the movie was filmed in or around September, but is there anything in the movie that ties it down to a particular date or a time of year? I really would like to set a date for my LiT anniversary so any help would be much appreciated.

not too sure about the date, but 04:20 tokyo time for the start would be very apt.....

Good idea. Thanks for that. :)

I always see it as quite a 'spring' movie, around cherry blossom time (march-april), I know it's not set then but it seems to capture that mood for me :)

My first viewing was a relatively balmy night in late summer. Somehow, that seemed ideal for me.

I think for the purposes of simul-view, 23 september was previously quoted as the anniversary date. I think that also coupled with 4/20 at 0420 japan time would make a nice combination; two simul-views a year, spread almost evenly, one in spring which has some significance and the other on the actual date of filming.

Oh that sounds perfect. I think that's what I'll do. Anyway, one anniversary is too few for this movie, so it needs two.

Agreed! Does anybody else think that we should have standardised dates for the simul-views on here as well? Might be easier for people to make a note of etc. Could always put it to a poll or something...

Should be on the weekend closest to that standardized date.
