Dave Attell's Insomniac: Sloshed in Translation

#1 Post by KKDallas » Mon Aug 23, 2004 10:04 pm

If any of you get the Comedy channel, check out Dave Attell's show this week, Insomniac. He visits Tokyo and samples numerous delicacies such as blowfish sushi, cod sperm and lots of "biru". He goes to many bars, restaurants and festivals in Tokyo and interviews Japanese people as well as ex pats. It was funny to watch.

I liked seeking sights in Tokyo that I was familiar with in LIT such as Shibuya crossing, small side streets (the action sequence where Charlotte, Bob and Charley are being chased), temples, gardens, and the intoxicating blur of neon lights.

I hope some of you can catch the show and reminisce.

Ok I watched it.
I didn't recognize the street they were chased down.
It was a different city of course than the one in the film.
Different in the way it was presented of course.
I liked it, new and different things about it I had not seen before.

The Guardian Angels bit was classic. Loved that! :)

Bring your tape of Insomniac, I'll bring LIT and we can meet at the Park Hyatt. We'll watch them again then try to find the sights in real life, OK? :D

You're right about the side street. I doubt it was the same one that Bob and Charlotte ran down but it reminded me of it. Actually some of the streets Dave walked on reminded me of the streets/background in the "Making of LIT" (not the exact name) in the special features on the LIT DVD.

Gosh, I am really wanting to visit and experience Tokyo!!
