I just saw it for the first time last fall and agree that it's an incredible movie that packs a powerful emotional punch.

I like it when art influences life and makes you think (and re-think) your worldview.

Some of my favourite spots represented here too which is nice. I've been to England three times and loved it. London, Manchester and the Orkneys. Chicago is also my second favourite US city with Madison, WI right behind. (NYC is number one)
Aye, it certainly is/does! :D

Hi,

I'm new :D

I've recently found this site and I'm glad people are still talking about LIT after all this time :)

I first saw the film not long after it was released and liked it a lot, then on my 2nd and 3rd viewing i loved it, now I've seen it around 30 times and I honestly never tire of it.

I look forward to chatting to you all about everything LIT related :)

Thanks for the welcome :D

Well for a short time I was watching it once a week without fail!! Now I do watch it at least once a month, and I've never once felt bored by any of it, which is a good sign as I know in the past too many viewings has tainted things for me!

so here's something about me
I'm Chris and I live in Poland. I'm 20 years old and studying math.

I've seen Lit about 8 times. I don't count each viewing so maybe there were more. Your forum is realy great. It's amazing how pople can still remember about one movie.

Hi Chris and welcome! I've never heard of the Adult Children of Alcoholics syndrome before. I'm familiar with the teen group for that situation. My boyfriend's dad was an abusive alcoholic parent up until the point where his mom divorced him. My mom is verbally abusive when she drinks. Both don't think that they are or were in the wrong. And we know that we weren't the cause of it. We've solved our problems by staying away from them. His dad is 1500 miles south of us. My mom is 3000 miles west. Both of us are very light drinkers and are confident that the pattern won't be repeated with us. So good luck to you and I'm glad that you've found our little group. :)

If you are a serious LiT fan, and why else would you be here, then you are well past the IQ/EQ threshold necessary to figure out from my log in that my name is Bill and I live in Atlanta. So here are a few other random items that might help you learn a bit more about me.

I am 60 y.o. So I was LOLing to Bill Murray from his first days at SNL I would get into arguments with people about who was the better young comedy actor, Bill Murray or Tom Hanks. Both turned into awesome serious as well as comedy actors, so I will call the 30-year old argument a tie.

I word as an academic, including a lot of work with executive programs that takes me to Asia a fair number of times (two trips so far this year). Japan and Vietnam are my two favorite countries. Thailand is in the mix, too.

LiT replaced The Philadelphia Story as my all time favorite movie. Breaking the Waves is still my most engrossing film, however. If you can take it and stay with it your mind will go “pop” at the end.

I was “into” the Jesus and Mary Chain in 1989 and about fell over when the first few percussion licks of “Just Like Honey” came in at the end of LiT. I was so blown away by the film, and it was so perfect a song to play there.

I am a huge fan of the British singer Dido and of the clarity of her philosophy that her music captures about life and how humans travel through it. I see a massive linkage between the ability to tap basic but powerful human emotions, drives, fears, and hopes in both Dido’s song and Sophia’s films.

I was first in Japan in 1971 at the age of 16. I was last there this February, albeit just passing through Narita (and picking up a bottle of 17 y.o. Hibiki). My favorite Tokyo hotel is the Imperial with the Frank Lloyd Wright bar, which was salvaged from the old Imperial.
