I'm taking it to my grave.

But, seriously, I love music. I suppose we could share.

Hey atlas - no Doors in your collection? That is the definitive "Angst" music of the Vietnam era; though maybe it was more of a guy thing, when we were all convinced we were going to be shipped off to die in some country we never even knew exisited.

There's definitely Doors in my collection, I think about four or five albums. I actually have their first album on vinyl. (CDs and .mp3/.m4a files have better sound quality but records have more personality.)

I notice a lot of Vietnam films use the same music. 'For What It's Worth' is always playing when soldiers are walking through some type of field, 'Fortunate Son' will play when a helicopter full of soldiers is shown going somewhere, and 'Gimme Shelter' is always played when said helicopter lands and all the men jump out.

But, yeah, I thought it'd be crazy to list everything that I listen to; this way is more forum-friendly.

Actually! Oasis is not broken up. They have never broken up and are coming out with a new album on May 16th. It's be their 7th studio album. Although they aren't popular in the states, they are still one of the biggest bands internationally. (They are my favorite, so I'm a little obsessed)

As for my bands:

Oasis
The Beatles
Blur
Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Air
Blue States
Doves
The Verve
Massive Attack
Bjork
My Bloody Valentine (although all i have is Loveless)
Zero 7
Wilco
so they aren't broken up after all. I could swear they were maybe cause I just physiced my self into thinking that. I live in the states and exept Wonderwall, they are not popular here as you said but on of the greatest bands ever and they made it doing what they do best and they have to be applauded for that. I heard Lyla on Radio and thats when I found out they werent broken up. :) . I think The Verve are underrated too.

I love 'Ball and Chain'. It’s actually one of the songs she sang at the Monterey Pop Festival. (If you get the chance I suggest you rent it. She’s on stage, bleeding through these songs and the camera pans to the crowd staring at her with their mouths open. I was so born in the wrong decade.) She’s throaty, practically growling some of the verses. You can feel it in your bones. The song isn't that groundbreaking, I know, but it’s the delivery. Resigned to her fate but just wanting to understand it. Also, the collector's edition DVD has the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield along with the Who, Otis Redding, et al. It's wonderful.

I'd suggest Cheap Thrills, from when she was with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Every song is great and it was re-released a few years ago with extra tracks.

And Pearl. It's, I think, the last studio album she did before she died. My favorite tracks are 'Buried Alive in the Blues' and 'Trust in Me'. You can probably listen to them on Amazon, but I can upload them to YSI if you want to hear them in their entirety.

Does anyone here like Peter Frampton? The only album of his that I own is Frampton Comes Alive! and I really like it. It's on my iPod now and I was just curious.

That's too bad; the only songs of his that I know of are from that album.

How about the Traveling Wilburys? They do a good cover of 'My Back Pages', but Dylan's is better. Though, Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Brothers did a version of 'To Ramona' that I liked.

I saw the Rolling Stones in concert for the first time a while ago and it was one of the best shows to which I've ever been, right behind Dylan. They still gave a good performance regardless of their age; I was surprised. I would've loved to be alive in the sixties and seventies and seen them in concert.

I was alive in the 70s  and I saw the Stones in '78 I think it was
in Cleveland at the stadium. We were sitting so far away couldn't see
much but it sounded good. I wasn't a huge Stones fan anyway but I
just wanted to go to a stadium concert and see what it was like.
That was my 4th concert and up to that point my favorite shows were
Yes (in the round!) and Genesis!

I wish I could've seen Led Zeppelin. In fact I was slated to see them in 1980
but when Bonham died that all ended.
I did however see Page play with The Firm which was cool and I saw Plant
twice in the 80s which was superb! The man has some of the most
stage presence I have ever seen. Now though unfortunately I think his
voice just isn't what it used to be even back in the 80s.
But he is fascinating to see or hear in an interview, extremely
intelligent and knowledgeable.

That's it exactly. A stadium is so different than a smaller venue. If the music is good the show is usually better off in a bigger place, huge crowds and all. I'm not a huge Rolling Stones fan, either, but it after the fact it seemed absurd that I'd spent most of my life not knowing what 'Paint it Black' or 'Sympathy For the Devil' sounded like live.

He's got something, it seems. I started listening to Led Zeppelin when I was twelve, and sadly must say the impetus was that Robert Plant looked good in tight pants. But they have some great albums. I remember hearing 'Communication Breakdown' for the first time like it was a dream. And I love 'Dazed and Confused'.

I'm just going to mention a few, but the list is really long: The Door, Led Zeppelin, Jimmi Hendrix, Roxy Music, Nirvana, Jesus and Mary chain, The Smiths, Marilyn Manson(some), My Bloody Valentine (some), System of a down, David Bowie, Avril Lavigne, Coldplay, The White Stripes, Beck(some), The Carpenters, Pretenders, Franz Ferdinand, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode(sometimes), Travis(some), Paloalto(some)-much more. Roxy Music is a great band. Not enough people have heard their stuff. My favorite albums are "Stranded" and "Siren."
