Registration/Profile Code Changes

#1 Post by Bob_san » Tue Dec 19, 2006 8:48 pm

I am going to be testing some code changes to registration to thwart spammers now. This may affect profile and other related screens so avoid those items at this time.

This has been tested and is now working.
If you experience any problems using registration or profile editing please email me (Bob_san not Bob!) and let me know.

I have changed it now that a person cannot enter a website in their profile (such as in registration) until their account has been activated. I am hoping this will discourage spammers since all they want is their website listed.

It seems some spammers are able to inject a web address in there anyway so I went on to a stage 2 code change in an attempt to foil this.

Just a reminder to actual bonafide would be members, when you register, put something in your profile to indicate a real human and not a spam bot.

Per another post here registration is currently disabled but profile edits should work fine.
