phpBB Release 3.0

I think I would lose the chat function unless I can find it supported for the new version. . .

But would it help stop the spam registrations so that you can actually let people join the forum again?

I don't know as I haven't read all the new features list yet.
Very few real people actually register compared to all the spam.
I want to take someone else's suggestion and move the forum to a new directory which is not a standard name that spammers look for to try and circumvent that.

Ha, that someone else was me! :P

I just installed phpbb3 on my server and it's pretty slick. Installation was ridiculous easy...much more simple than 2.x ever was.

The main difference in relation to registrations is that you can't add any information (website, for example) on registration...you have to wait until after you're confirmed (which I think you've got this board doing anyway). There are also some other security settings which might help (browser confirmation, for example).

Aside from that, it seems a lot easier to manage than 2.x.
