I had heard about this person and I did a google search and found this:

I don't know if anyone has read William Gibson (Neuromancer et all) but
he writes a lot about a futuristic society in Japan and about these larger
than life pop idols. Now I see where he gets his ideas! It's real now!!

From first glance it sounds like one if the countless spinoffs of American Idol. Is that how she got started?

Eh wasn't the American Idol a spinoff of the original British one?!

i don't watch the show, never seen an episode, and i don't know where i heard this from, but i THINK the show started off as an idea of that asshole judge (simon?) I think he and some other people thought it would be a good show, and they did it in Britain. It came over to the U.S. and became big. don't quote me, i'm not sure where i got this from haha

I live in England and the show did start off over here. We have so many reality TV shows over here - "I'm a celebrity - get me out of here", "Big Brother", "Pop Idol", "Pop Stars" etc.
