I was wondering about the japanese etiquette when you're eating sushi - with the pieces made of fish and rise, one is not suppossed to dip the rice part into the soysauce, but the fishpart, and then the fish ought to be downwards to one's tounge when taking a bite.

Okay, so my question concerns the other pieces, the round ones with rice and seaweed. Where is one's supposed to put the soysauce?

(Of course, one can eat sushi just as one likes, but it could be good to be aware of some true sushi-customs...)

Who says you have to use soysauce at all?! I don't always.
Also I never heard this about the fish part on the tongue.

I dunno, I've just read it at some sushi-etiquette sites.

I never found that it made any difference at all. I have seen Japanese people dip it any ole way.

I love sushi, sashimi is even better. I mix my wasabi and soy sauce thick, it looks almost like a green/brown paste. I dip the rice side in, being a clumsy American oaf that I am, but they never complain. Guess I tip well enough...hehe.
