I'm mostly a fan of classic rock, so a list of my favorite bands would include The Who, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, U2, and Van Morrison, and sometimes The Rolling Stones.

Newer bands would definitely be Hootie and The Blowfish, The Wallflowers, and a huge favorite - Coldplay.

As for singers...Bob Dylan, Springsteen, Hendrix, Marley, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks

There is a list of my favorite bands ever! in () is band's current status
Nirvana(dead)
David Bowie(old)
My Bloody Valentine(broken up{?})
R.E.M(still going strong)
Lou Reed & The Velvet ( old )
Goo Goo Dolls(still going strong)
Alice in Chains(dead)
The Byrds (old)

Yeah, he definitely will be missed. Out of curiosity, what is your favorite album/song of his? It's a really tough call for me, but I think LA may be my favorite song and XO my favorite album.

Elliott Smith

Each album had its own personality, but I'd have to agree with XO.
My favorite song of his depends on the mood I'm in that particular day, I think.
It's a toss up between "Independence Day", "A Question Mark" and "Son of Sam", for me.
The final verse on each of those 3 just floor me.
This is the track-list of the anthology CD that I burned to play in the car.
I consider the ones with asterisks the "essential" tracks.

Actually! Oasis is not broken up. They have never broken up and are coming out with a new album on May 16th. It's be their 7th studio album. Although they aren't popular in the states, they are still one of the biggest bands internationally. (They are my favorite, so I'm a little obsessed)

As for my bands:

Oasis
The Beatles
Blur
Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Air
Blue States
Doves
The Verve
Massive Attack
Bjork
My Bloody Valentine (although all i have is Loveless)
Zero 7
Wilco

I sort of go more from album to album than artist to artist, an' just 'cos I love one album doesn't mean I have the back-catalogue of that artist (mainly for financial reasons). I range between variations of rock to folk and jazz, and at the moment my top fifteen I guess are (in a carefully random order):

Tom Waits- Mule Variations
Neutral Milk Hotel- In The Aeroplane...
John Lennon- Plastic Ono Band
The Pillows- Happy Bivouac
British Sea Power- The Decline Of British Sea Power
Cinematic Orchestra- Man With A Movie Camera
Flaming Lips- The Soft Bulletin
Sigur Ros- Agaetis Byrjun
Roxy Music- Avalon
Pink Floyd- The Final Cut
Francis Cabrel- Beaux Degats
Martin Carthy- Shearwater
The Album Leaf- In A Safe Place
Bright Eyes- I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
Rushmore OST

I've found myself listening to a lot of pop music lately. I know it's late, but I just discovered Keane's "Hopes and Fears" album, and I think it's brilliant. Also, Ryan Cabrera's song "True". Just some things that are giving me the "LiT effect" recently.

if anyone listens to fiddle music, then you probably know Brittany Haas is (if you don't, she is, according to pretty much everyone, the best fiddle player in the world) ...Well, she goes to my school! I couldn't really recommend any of her music, as i don't really listen to that kind of music, but i'm sure it's all good (apologies for my ignorance...). And if you do listen to her, you might be excited to know that for her senior project, she wrote a whole bunch of new music, so i guess that means she might have new music coming out soon

Anyways..just thought you might think its cool 8)
