Songs that remind you of LIT
Ok, so not songs that were already in the movie, but have you ever heard a song where the lyrics or the music reminded you of LiT?
Here are two in particular that do, and I'll upload them for you all to download as well.
"Joga" - Bjork
All these accidents,
That happen,
Follow the dot,
Coincidence,
Makes sense,
Only with you,
You don't have to speak,
I feel.
Emotional landscapes,
They puzzle me,
The riddle gets solved,
And you push me up to this
State of emergency,
How beautiful to be,
State of emergency,
Is where I want to be.
All that no-one sees,
You see,
What's inside of me,
Every nerve that hurts,
You heal,
Deep inside of me, oo-oohh,
You don't have to speak,
I feel.
Emotional landscapes,
They puzzle me - confuse,
Then the riddle gets solved,
And you push me up to this
State of emergency,
How beautiful to be,
State of emergency,
Is where I want to be.

"Dakota" - Stereophonics
Think back, thinking of you
Summertime, think it was June
Yeah think it was June
Laying back head on the grass
Chewing gum having some laughs
Yeah having some laughs
You made me feel like the one
You made me feel like the one
The one
Drinking back, drinking for two
Drinking with you
When drinking was new
Sleeping in the back of my car
We never went far
Didn't need to go far
You made me feel like the one
You made me feel like the one
The one
I don't know where we are going now
Wake up call, coffee and juice
Remembering you
What happened to you?
I wonder if we we'll meet again
Talking about life since then
Talk about why did it end
You made me feel like the one
You made me feel like the one
The one
I don't know where we are going now
So take a look at me now

I think the first one may be pretty self explanitory.. as for the second one, I know the lyrics are talking about a more specific time that doesn't really revolve around the movie, but the last verses in particular and the chorus seem to do it for me.

The Stereophonics put out two great rock albums. Then they put out two completely dire unlistenable ones.
They just recently put out another album, which that song is from, which is definetely a step in the right direction for them.
I reccomend getting a few songs from their second album, Performance and Cocktails.
My favorites are: Bartender and the Thief, Tshirt Suntan, Hurry Up and Wait, I Wouldn't Believe Your Radio, hell.. anything from that album.

One song that really tugs at me and reminds me of LiT is called Standing Outside A Broken Phonebooth With Money In My Hand by Primitive Radio Gods.
The song is somewhat haunting and calm, like LiT, and the lyrics definetly seem to present the same vibe as the storyline. It's obviously unintentional, but some parts of the song almost seem like the band was trying to create a storyboard for LiT.
Have a look for yourself:
(BB King)I been downhearted baby
I been downhearted baby
Since the day we met
Ever since the day we met
I been downhearted baby...
Jan lays down and wrestles in her sleep
Moonlight spills on comic books
And superstars in magazines
An old friend calls and tells us where to meet
Her plane takes off from Baltimore
And touches down on Bourbon Street
We sit outside and argue all night long
About a god we've never seen
But never fails to side with me
Sunday comes and all the papers say
Ma Theresa's joined the mob
And happy with her full time job
Am I alive or thoughts that drift away?
Does summer come for everyone?
Can humans do what prophets say?
And if I die before I learn to speak
Can money pay for all the days I lived awake
But half asleep?
A life is time, they teach you growing up
The seconds ticking killed us all
A million years before the fall
You ride the waves but don't ask where they go
You swim like lions through the crest
And bathe yourself in zebra flesh
I've been downhearted baby
Ever since the day we met
If you use file-sharing software, I strongly recommend you take the time to download the song.

I'd rather be a gear in a big, deterministic, physical machine than just some random swerving.

For me the songs that are not on the soundtrack but remind me of the film are R.E.M-Nightswimming and Sunday Morning by The Velvet Underground and Friendly Advice by not really a popular band called Luna. Please don't ask my why, they just do. The lyrics don't really have much to do with the movie but if you try to figure them out, they tie in somehow. Those are three really good songs either way.Every time I hear the first song, I think of Charlotte's and Bob's ride in the cab. The second one reminds me of the Kyoto scene for some strange reason and the last one reminds me of the final scene when Bob is whispering to Charlotte and rides away.

Dido - Sand in my Shoes

I don't know if Bob and Charlotte were ever on a beach, but this to seems to fit the mood of how each of them might have felt after going home.

That is indeed an incredible song, and very fitting to the mood of the filmdrabthehours wrote:Dido - Sand in my Shoes
Any Verve is good Verve. I love the first album, but I still think Urban Hymns is incredible too!
I love The Verve. I think they are cery underrated and would become as big if not bigger than Oasis. But as I said, Everyone has different songs (not on the soundtrack) that remind them of LiT in different way. Sometimes because of the lyrics, some for the music. For example, I love Air's Ce Matin La, a great piece of music that remind me more of LiT than Alone in Kyoto for some reason.
