An LiT twist on an old email

#1 Post by 52FM » Wed May 03, 2006 4:19 pm

Most of us have probably seen the email that makes the rounds every so often (and I've quoted in my signature) - the one that says "people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime."

The REASON parts fits so well with LiT. I had occassion to read the whole thing again this morning and was particularly struck with the REASON part:

People always come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
or to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they just walk away.
Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.

This really describes - I think - the end of LiT. It was hard for him to "walk away", it was hard for Charlotte to accept that his "work was done", but it was "time to move on".

This happens to all of us at one time or another - or maybe more - in our lives. While we may mourn the loss of the friendship, we have to recognize what actually happened and celebrate the life altering effect it had. As Charlotte surely did - and Bob too. I'm sure he felt great knowing he helped Charlotte.

I used to think this was a "corny" inspriational email. But it now has more meaning than I ever imagined as I deleted it from my inbox in the past. I know I'll never delete it if I ever get it again.

thanks 52FM... After having read this, I gathered some strength from it and am now better because of it.

52FM great post. I've never seen that email before. I would certainly like to see it in its entirety. The Season and Lifetime parts would also be of interest to read.

"A Reason A Season and A Lifetime"© by Brain A. "Drew" Chalker.

People always come into you life for a reason, a season and a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, or to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually. They may seem like a Godsend to you, and they are. They are there for a reason, you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die, Sometimes they just walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season. And like Spring turns to Summer and Summer to Fall, the season eventually ends.

Lifetime, relationships teach you a lifetime of lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas in your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
