Anniversary Simul-View
So we haven't done one of these in a long time, and of course we no longer have the chat function anyway.
But how about we try and make it a yearly thing to do a simul-view on the release date of the movie, October 3 (or the closest weekend to it).
Bob could send out an email to all the users reminding them about it, maybe a month in advance or something. And we'd need to get a replacement to the chat...I think there are some other phpbb options out there and of course there's always IRC, or even just an AIM chat room.
So yeah, it's a ways off from now, but that gives us time to work out a chat solution. We could always do more, but I think at least once a year is good, and may bring back some old members now and then.
Thoughts?

I'm interested. How would it work though? I'm thinking theoretically...we all hook up online through a chat format (taking into account differences in time zones)...maybe 30mins-an hour before we all press play on our DVDs...then what? For me, my computer is in the bedroom, and I'd be watching the movie in the livingroom...r u guys going to be chatting during the movie?
Pitman, check out the two prior threads about previous simulviews and that will give you an idea of how it all worked out.
I found a new program called qlock (.com) which is free. Then you can setup a clock on your desktop for different timezones and we can all coordinate that way. It also tells you how many hours plus or minus that timezone is from yours. Generally in the past we have used about 9pm on a saturday night EST.

What do you mean? Do you have a dvd player in your laptop? Then you could be wired in and watch it on the laptop! Hey youve got some months yet to Oct to get a wireless or something!Pitman wrote:If I had a wireless network with laptop, then I'd be into it. But, alas, I do not.
I'm thinking of re-activating the chat function as it is but making it so that people not logged in would not know it exists. That's important for any security problems with it. Then later I can see about upgrading to a newer version.
