On another note, funny thing is it lists Book of Eli as a Western even if it is postapocalyptic (science?) fiction. However on seeing it I did feel that it definitely had an old west vibe (in addition to the Mad Max vibe!). For a western feeling but definitely not a western you guys might enjoy the...

I recently saw Avatar . I agree with most reviewers; it's an epic retelling of Walt Disney's Pocahontas , and it's all spectacle ... but still a pretty incredible experience. I was tremendously skeptical to see it in 3D, but it really enhances it, especially with the ash and flora fluttering around...

I've read that one of our greatest anxieties is the fear of being publicly judged. In this scene we have the Santory exec's (who are judged by their superiors) judging the director, (obviously feeling the pressure), and poor Ms. Kawasaki who is not about to draw any unwanted attention upon herself. ...

I love the ways you guys have addressed the Charlotte scarf question. Questions like this and their many variations, "do you like the new carpet, room color, my dress, my watch" etc are really about whether you're going to be part of their life and care about what they care about. John's "I don't kn...

Sorry, guys. I kinda flaked on this. The turn-out has been a little disappointing. But I think we have a contingent of members that want to contribute, right? Cryogenic, for my part I'm thoroughly enjoying your chapter expansions. After spending plenty of time on this forum and watching the movie a...

I've always seen Bob's sad night with the singer more as a passive-aggressive response to Lydia's hurtful conversation. The one while he was in the health club pool. Later, at the bar Bob's just totally pulled in on himself, almost curled around his drink and cigar, for him to be open to the singer ...

I have broadened my opinion on what is appropriate and responsible with regards to relationships. It's a very complex area and not subject to such a simplistic view. With regards to Bob and Charlotte, did their relationship cross a line? Great question. There is no simple or complete answer. It dep...

Welcome T-Dot
Welcome T-Dot. I agree with you about this forum. The wealth of information and observations is just amazing. I thought I knew the film until reading all the posts! It has helped me get even more enjoyment out of the film.

HD DVD quality
Well, I'll throw my two cents in. I also have a HD-DVD player and although I first bought a standard resolution DVD of LIT I went out and got the HD version when I bought the HD player. The resolution quality, in HD, varies dramatically from one scene to the next. I think this is due more to the gen...

you guys are good
I give up! I give up!
You guys are so good with your observations I'm suddenly in the mood to watch the movie again. Perhaps I can recapture that same haunting, beautiful, suspended in the moment feeling I got the first 100 times I watched it.

You're absolutely right Cryogenic, I have never connected the opening and closing scenes like that. What a difference in Bob at the end of the story, rejuvenated. One of the things that I love about this forum is how the members have helped me further appreciate the depth of this movie. It is truely...
