Last Movie I saw was "Fun With Dick And Jane", average comedy, good for a few laughs.

King Kong

WAAAYYY too llloooonnnngggg!

But generally good. So much of it was unreal even given its fantastic premise (Ann Darrow would have been killed fromt the whiplash of being swung so violently or as Kong fought the T-Rexes (she was being clutched by him the whole time.) and the ice skating scene was touching but obviously the ice woudl at least crack. Etc etc. But the general premise of the connection they made was very well done.

Mine was King Kong as well.

Speaking of which, never ever have I wanted a movie to end so bad. I was sold by the authenticity of the city scenes near the beginning, but my attention started to slip once about twelve men were able to use a few ordinary ropes to tie down a beast that just fought off three full-size t-rexes.
Ten or eleven plotholes later, I just stopped paying attention.

I know the that's not the point of the movie, but it's not something you can simply leave out and expect people to simply write off as unneccesary.
And because it bored me so, I knew I would come home and find a two-thumbs up rave review from good old Roger Ebert. At least I can still find a little consistency

Sadly, Ebert seems to like everything these days. And I've never accepted Richard Roeper as a legitimate film critic. The show should have died along with Gene Siskle, who I REALLY liked and miss. It's time for a new hot pair of critics from the heartland (not necessarily Chiocago - just not LA or NY). Gene Siskle was from the glory days of local Chicago news which is sadly over. Part of the team from our CBS station that included Bill Kurtis (now doing documentaries and narrator of Will Ferrel's Anchorman) that HATED the happy talk style of news that was so popular.

Siskle and Ebert really, truly disliked each other. Even when the show started locally (with the amazingly clumsy title "Coming soon to a theater near you". Only after several years of working together did they finally become friends.

OK - I could write a book as I'm getting nostalgic again about my Chicago that keeps slipping away, so I'll stop since this is very off topic.

fight club, still one of the most audacious and outright accomplished movies ever made. that movie is quite simply perfect. i've never seen a movie with so many deliberately complex, contradictary ideas pulled off in such scorching style. gawd i love that movie!
oh, and match point the other day, but sadly got dragged out of it after 1hr...missed a cracker of an ending, apparently. i havent seen a movie at the cinema from beginning to end for about 7 months...

Why Steve Martin would want any part of this, I have no idea. Tied for worst movie I have seen all year (so far) with Hostel.

I think the last I saw was King Kong. I enjoyed it.
I really want to see Fight Club.

Honestly I just don't understand why anyone would go see a movie like Hostel in the first place. I couldn't even watch the trailer.
It seems like these types of films are just getting more and more graphic as people
become more and more desensitized to all kinds of violence. Especially the younger generations

was not.

And what also get my dander up

is those people who complain about Brokeback Mountain and ban it in theaters
yet show movies like Hostel at that same theater!
It's like what's worse in their supposed "moral" code? A movie about
a loving relationship between two people or horrifying acts of graphic violent torture?
I mean really where is the outrage among all these religious folks about violence?!

They gave up preaching about violence because noones listening, so now they decide to be a pain about something else. Probably.
