On the DVD, there is a short feature on the making of LIT called "Lost on Location". At one point in it, Ross Katz, the producer, is talking with Sofia about getting the plug pulled from them in the shabu shabu scene. Evidently the restaurant owners wanted the crew out of the restaurant by a certain time and the crew was running a little late. They had to hustle out.

Ross mentions that it was during this time that they had their "medicals". He says he was glad that Sofia didn't realize that the "medicals" were happening as they were getting thrown out of the shabu shabu restaurant. Perhaps that was one less thing she had to worry about.

What are these "medicals" that Ross is referring to? Anyone know? Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Insurance companies often require filmmakers to submit to medical examinations, to ensure that they are fit enough to complete a project. You don't want to insure a film for a high dollar amount, then have the director keel over from something they should have seen coming. Once production begins, I'm not sure it really matters whether or not they submit, because it's already too late to do anything about it.

Then again, it might have been some sort of drug test.
I wonder if she would have passed, given the 420 references and the Japanese surfers.
