Its a simple and emotional film............I dont want to give anything away..but I say ..go see it and it was wonderful to see Bill again..just when you think he cant reach any deeper..he does and you discover even more emotional range inside this talented actor.........Autumn Child wrote:i hope you enjoyed it, what was it about?

I traveled an hour + to cleveland last night to see it with a friend of mine.
I won't give anything away, mostly because there is nothing to give away. Jim Jarmusch is a pretentious hipster and all these people that talk about how "brilliant" the movie must just be pretending.
I give it a 2/5.. it had it's moments, but overall I was just left really unsatisfied. Bill Murray did a fantastic job, but there was really no depth to his character and for the first 3/4 of the movie, you don't really care about him.. and by the time to think you might be starting to care for him, it's over.
You should see it, but don't travel anywhere to do so and make sure you rent it before you buy it when it comes out.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I am looking forward to it.WhoFeelsLove wrote: I won't give anything away, mostly because there is nothing to give away. Jim Jarmusch is a pretentious hipster and all these people that talk about how "brilliant" the movie must just be pretending.
I havent seen any of Jarmusch's films but I would like to see the C&C
segment with Bill.
Your comment about pretenders and such makes me wonder if that's what some people who don't like LiT have said about Sofia.
But as we know just because they have that opinion doesn't change how we like the movie or feel about what we see as it's brilliance.
In the same way then there must be something that people see in J's films that you don't. You certainly are entitled to your opinion
but I would rather see intelligent film discussion here instead of vague blanket statements that may be misunderstood and counter to such discussion.

For the record, I wasn't referring to you with that comment. You said it was a simple and emotional film, I agree with that.
My comment was in reference to people I know who are very cerebral in their admiration for this movie. They praise it so much, and I'm not sure if they even know why they like it other than the fact that it is supposedly "cool" to do so. Again, I am not talking about YOU.

And Bob, I understand your point. Believe it or not, a week or two later, this movie has been on my mind a lot, and I think I am growing to like it, somewhat. But I posted my initial comment after a 2 hour trip only to be extremely disapointed. I am only human.

"I'm surprised that I haven't commented here yet. I saw the movie and found it very good. I am not going to buy it, but it was fun to see Bill Murray doing his mature thing. I am surprised that the director also did [i:3487ea41c8]Coffee and Cigarettes[/i:3487ea41c8], because that's crap, even when Mr. Murray is onscreen.
I should warn you all that, if you like a movie with an ending that resolves things -- skip this movie."

Yeah, it came out Jan. 3rd.
It was released by Focus Features, the same company that put LiT. It's a pretty bare-bones disc by way of extras- some funny Bill moments, a short behind the scenes, something on the soundtrack...
What I want to know is, when will Bill participate on a commentary track?! I'm sure this is me being selfish it seems like he could give a really colorful read on this movie.

I haven't seen the DVDs for all of his movies, but I'm not aware that he's participated in the extras for anything, except that talk with Sofia for his favorite movie that he's been in."

I'd suggest you rent the DVD, which came out on the 3rd and find out- it's the only way to find out... besides, I think on the special features section, it'll tell you who will be on the commentary, so all you need to do is read "commentary by whom" basically.Good luck. Can't wait to rent this amazing film!

Nothing is more beautiful than something that will not last
